Interesting Factors that May be Preventing You from Losing Weight
Bad Sleeping Habits- Studies have found that lack of sleep can spoil your plans for weight loss as the habit of staying awake longer affects your body's biochemistry. Lack of sleep can slow down your metabolism, affect concentration, reduce time to exhaustion, and decrease physical performance. Aim for 8- 11 hours of sleep per night.
Stress- Stress has been found to release cortisol, a hormone which provides the body with additional glucose, slows down your metabolism, and promotes visceral fat storage.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome- Women at childbearing age may be susceptible to this hormonal imbalance, which can lead to weight gain.
Hypothyroidism- If you have an under active thyroid, this will result in a slower metabolism which will make it more difficult to lose weight.
Steroids- Prednisone for example has been found to increase appetite and cause salt retention in the body. Combined with poor food choices this can result in weight gain.
Antidepressant's Long Term Effect- Certain antidepressants can cause weight gain on a long term use.
Prescription Drugs Too- Birth control medications, diabetes, pills, etc could add to weight gain too.
